Michael Skinner started playing drums at age 5 playing gospel with his mother and aunt at several Bay Area Churches. At age 10 he was performing with ‘The Spiritual Corinthians’ featuring his older brother Melvin (Bluesman) Bolden on Bass and Joe Louis Walker on guitar. Michael was a four-time recipient of the John Phillip Sousa Award for Outstanding Musicianship at Harry High School in Richmond, Ca. Awarded Best New Blues Artist of the year 2013 by the Bay Area Blues Society, he performed live for President Bill Clinton for his Inauguration. 2005 Bay Area Blues Society Drummer of the Year Award. he Also toured Europe, Asia, Africa and throughout the US for the past 10 years with major artist that include: John Lee Hooker Jr., Jimmy McCracklin, Little Milton, Zakyia Hooker and so many more, and recorded on over 30 album projects.
