ABOUT ABOUT

The Reed Fromer Band is one of the Bay Area's most dynamic and enjoyable R&B bands, featuring top-level musicians and powerful vocals. The group's repertoire consists of exciting, danceable R&B/funk material and beautiful, moving rock and soul ballads. Material is drawn from such dependable sources as Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Michael Jackson, The Isley Brothers, Chaka Kahn & Rufus, B.B. King, The Doobies, Earth Wind & Fire, Jeffrey Osbourne, and Maxwell.

Reed Fromer’s music has touched, inspired, and delighted countless listeners of all ages for over 45 years. He has brought passion, joy, creativity, and skill to a wide range of musical endeavors across a wide range of musical styles. As a vocalist, he began singing at 14 months, performed on youth TV shows from ages four to twelve, was featured in the San Francisco Blues Festival at age ten, was a frequent guest performer with acapella legends The Persuasions, and helped turn a radio jingle into a virtual underground hit. As a bandleader, he has brought exciting and powerful music to a wide array of clubs, concert halls, parties, and community events. In addition to his own R&B band, he has served as the musical director for the Best Intentions Motown Revue and teen country vocalist Kristen McNamara. As a songwriter, he was a three-time “Song of the Year” winner of the Northern California Songwriters’ Association Annual Playoffs, and has had his material recorded by other artists, including Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Gregg Allman. As a choral instructor, he has instilled an enduring love of pop, folk, and gospel music in thousands of children through his classes in schools and community programs. He also serves as instructor for two adult choruses, the Shady Ladies and A Night Choir on Elm Street. He has also lent a great deal of support, musical and otherwise, to movements for peace and human rights, and was a 1994 recipient of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Humanitarian Award (given by the Marin County Human Rights Commission) for his educational efforts in civil rights. His first novel, The Race Track, a parable about race relations, was completed in 2015.
